Monday, August 23

Outing to Old Post Office Pavilion and Tour of the Monuments

7:00 p.m. ­ 10:00 p.m., Leave from Kay Chapel

Come with the United Methodist Student Association (UMSA) for dinner and shopping at this downtown attraction, get a view of the city from the observation tower of the Old Post Office; then take a nighttime tour of the monuments..

Tuesday, August 24

Movie with the Methodists

9:00 p.m.11:00 p.m. Gianni Lounge, MGC 200

Join the UMSA in watching School of Rock. Free snacks and refreshments will be provided. Hang around afterwards to talk about the movie or just meet new people.

Wednesday, August 25

Wesleyan Wiffleball

4:00 p.m. ­ 7:00 p.m., Quad in front of Kay

Join the UMSA for pick up sports and snacks on the quad in front of Kay Chapel. Burn off the calories playing volleyball, frisbee, or wiffle-ball even as you partake of them.

Thursday, August 26

UMSA/JSA Beach Party

4:00 ­ 7:00 p.m., Quad in front of Kay

Come to the quad in front of Kay for the UMSA Beach Party and join us for volleyball, lounging in the pool, snacks, music, and fishing for prizes. Is your roommate Jewish? Bring them, too. It's co-sponsored by the Jewish Student Association.

Communion & Healing Service

11:00 p.m., Kay Chapel

Every Thursday night our community offers a contemplative service of communion, reflection, and intercessory prayer. During the school year it's a great break during the middle of the week.

S'mores with s'Methodists

10:00 p.m. ­ midnight, Kay Quad

Cap off your first week at AU by joining us for some s'mores in front of the Kay Chapel.

Sunday, August 29

Sunday Worship

7:00 p.m. ­ 8:00 p.m., Kay Chapel

Join us for our informal-traditional Sunday night worship in the Kay Chapel, held every Sunday at 7 p.m. and get to meet all the members of the community. Stay around afterwards for fellowship and snacks.

Hike at Great Falls

Saturday, September 4

12:00 p.m. ­ 4:00 p.m. Depart from Kay Chapel

Join the UMSA for a hike at the beautiful Great Falls on the Potomac River. We'll be traveling there via AUTO van. Bring a picnic lunch, a camera, and your hiking shoes.

Baseball Outing to Camden Yards, BaltimoreFriday, September 10

5:00 p.m. ­ 11:00 p.m. Depart from Kay Chapel

We'll be traveling by AUTO van to Camden Yards in Baltimore to see the Baltimore Orioles play the New York Yankees.

Cost: $5.00 per ticket (w/student ID)

Community Retreat in the Shenandoah

Friday, Sept. 17 to Saturday, Sept. 18

Our annual fall retreat in Virginia, in the mountains of the Shenandoah, at the cabin of the University Chaplain. Get away from campus for a bit, enjoy the beautiful countryside, and take some time to reflect with other members of the community.

Feed the QuadTuesday, September 21, 2004, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Our annual free cookout on the quad. At our previous events we have given away over 400 burgers, veggie burgers, and hot dogs to anyone who came on by. Come by to help out or for a free lunch.

Feed the CityFriday, September 24, 2004; 4:00 p.m. ­ 8:00 p.m

Come by the lower level of Kay at 4 p.m. to make sandwiches to distribute to the homeless. Then depart at 6 p.m. to deliver them to the needy of Washington.
