Welcome Week Activities 2005

WELCOME WEEK SCHEDULE, AUGUST 22-26
Since we published our welcome week schedule, the University has informed us of policy decisions that will require us to reschedule a couple of our planned events. Here's what's up:

* Movie with the Methodists, Monday, August 22, 9-11 p.m., Gianni Lounge (Mary Graydon 200)
Join us in watching "Spider-man 2". Free snacks and refreshments will provided. Hang around afterwards to talk about the movie of just to meet new people.

* Outing to Union Station and Walking Tour of the Monuments, Tuesday, August 23, 7-10 p.m
We'll be leaving from Kay Chapel and taking the Metro (we'll provide the farecards) to historic Union Station. There are nice shops and a food court for dinner. From there we'll take a walking tour of the Capitol grounds and the monuments, which are really best by night.

* Target Runs, Wednesday, August 24, 4-7 p.m.
Forget something for your room? We'll be shuttling people back and forth to Target between 4 and 7p.m. We'll be leaving from Kay Chapel on the hour and leaving from Target on the half hour.

* UMSA/JSA Beach Party, Thursday, August 25, 4-7 p.m., Quad in front of Kay
THE BEACH PARTY HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED--STAY TUNED FOR DETAILS
The beach party is tentatively rescheduled for Thursday, September 1, 2005, 4-7pm in front of Kay

* Communion and Healing Service, Thursday, August 26, 11 p.m., Kay Chapel
Every Thursday night our community offers this contemplative service of communion, reflection, and intercessory prayer. During the school year it's a great break during the middle of the week.

* Wesleyan Wiffleball, Wednesday, August 25, 6-8 p.m., Quad in front of Kay
Join us for pick up sports and snacks on the quad in front of Kay Chapel. Play volleyball, frisbee, or wiffle-ball and burn off calories even as you partake of them.

* S'mores with s'Methodists, Friday, August 27, 10 p.m., Kay Steps
Cap off your first week at AU by joining us for some s'mores in front of the Kay Chapel.

And if that's not enough, we've got a bunch of things going on during the month of September, too
