Education
There are a number of opportunities for learning and study in the community. They range from relatively formal group study to individual tutoring. There are no pre-set times for study. Any individual or group interested in one of these opportunities can arrange a time or meeting schedule with the Chaplain. Additionally, if there is a topic you would like explored that you don't see here, suggest it and we'll see what we can do!

Introduction to Biblical Languages
Contrary to popular opinion, the Bible was not written in English! When you read the Bible, you are reading someone else's translation, and thus, their interpretation of Scripture. Often this can be accounted for by using a number of different translations and comparing versions. But a better method is to learn the languages in which the Bible was written: Hebrew and Greek. Students who want to get an introduction to either Hebrew or Greek can set up a series of lessons to do so.

United Methodist History and Theology
Ever wonder what it means to be a United Methodist? Ever wonder what all these traditions and rituals are about? United Methodists have a rich tradition and theology that has formed and guided our community since the days of John Wesley. Sessions will cover the basics of United Methodism and what makes it distinctive from other denominations as well as what it shares with all Christians.

Training for Leading Worship
The elements of worship are not just random practices cobbled together. Liturgy is an expression of theology. Learn what the elements of worship are about and what their theological significance is. Moreover, learn techniques for being an effective public reader of scripture and assistant in leading worship. This training is useful for anyone who would like to help out with worship services.

Judaism and Christianity
Christianity arose out of Judaism of the first century. Jesus and the disciples were all Jews. Much of what Christianity has, it owes to Judaism. Yet, despite their common origin, many Jews and Christians are ignorant of the Jewish elements in Christianity and of the close relationship of the two faiths. Learn about the Jewish origins of Christianity and the ongoing special relationship between the two faiths. (Participants are also encouraged to participate in the Jewish-Christian Biblical Text Study Group).
